Knives

Knives designed for outdoor work are divided into classic pocket knives (folding or fixed), military knives and hunting knives, depending on the length of the blade and the number and types of other tools. When choosing a knife, you should primarily consider the purpose for which you want to use the knife.

Pocket knives - compared to hunting and military knives, they probably have the widest range of uses and are also the most versatile. They usually have a simple design and smaller dimensions (blade length is up to 12 cm). If you are only looking for a simple pocket knife, then OPINEL pocket knives are the right choice for you. However, if you expect other functions from your pocket knife, such as scissors, a file and others, you will certainly choose one of the Victorinox pocket knives. Simpler models may also have a bottle and can opener in their equipment. Others may offer a large number of various tools, from scissors to a hacksaw to a Phillips screwdriver or chisel. There are also models for a specific purpose (e.g. mushroom knives with a brush for cleaning mushrooms).

Military and hunting knives - if we compare them with pocket knives, military and hunting knives are usually larger (in terms of blade length but also the handle, which is usually solid). Thanks to this, you can grip and use the knife more easily. In most cases, the handle has a stop on the blade that prevents your hand from slipping onto the blade, which should prevent possible injury. Military and hunting knives are intended primarily for self-defense or for use in the wild. However, there are models designed for specific purposes - for hunters, rescuers, fishermen, etc.

Blade material - in our offer you will find knives made of various materials:

Stainless steel - is one of the most common materials used for blade production. Thanks to chromium, the blade is very resistant to corrosion and its maintenance is very easy. Unfortunately, however, it dulls faster than carbon blades and is harder to sharpen.

Carbon steel - has better properties than stainless steel blades, mainly due to its higher carbon content. It is easier to sharpen, but the big disadvantage is that it is not resistant to corrosion and is therefore more demanding to maintain.

Damascus steel - is very durable and strong, has excellent cutting properties, you will only find it in more expensive knives.
