The OBE is in recognition of his achievements and the impressive social and historical influence he has had on the way the UK has embraced Chinese cuisine, which has now become one of the country's most popular. He was made a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in the Queen's Jubilee Birthday Honours list 2022 for services to charity, the culinary arts and education.

During his long career, KEN HOM has managed a number of top restaurants around the world, including the Yellow River and Oriental Restaurants groups in the UK, Maison Chin at the Bandara Hotel in Bangkok and most recently MEE at Belmond's Copacabana Palace in Rio de Janeiro. All restaurants have won several prestigious awards, with MEE being awarded a Michelin star and also winning the "Best Asian Restaurant" award at the Eat and Drink awards and "Restaurant of the Year" from the Brazilian government's tourism board. KEN HOM has also worked as a consultant for hotels, restaurants and airlines and has personally cooked for presidents, prime ministers, celebrities and royalty.
