Opinel Cosmos Benjamin Jeanjean N°08 folding knife 8.5 cm
Benjamin Jeanjean's Cosmos pocket knife is a symbolic exploration of the universe: the sun's face represents balance, the phases of the moon recall the eternal cycle of time, the cosmic canvas is depicted with geometric motifs. The artist works with a duality that combines tradition and modernity.
The knife has a PEFC-certified hornbeam handle decorated with a motif applied using the sublimation technique and an 8.5 cm stainless steel blade with a black PVD finish. It comes in a box with motifs taken from the knife and with a postcard. Made in France. Limited edition of 8,200 pieces, numbered blades.
Benjamin Jeanjean is a French artist living in the Basque Country. As an illustrator, visual artist and tattoo artist, he combines black humor, absurdity and symbolism in a figurative style rich in detail.
- Blade length: 8.5 cm

Wood
95% of the wood used to make the handles comes from sustainably managed French forests. There is no excessive deforestation and no air pollution during long transport – all of this means less strain on nature. The main wood supplier has its forests in the French Jura region and is of course PEFC certified.
Handle
The light-coloured PEFC-certified hornbeam wood with barely visible growth rings is ideal for applying paint. The handle is varnished to protect it from moisture and dirt.
Matte black safety ring
The ViroBloc safety lock reliably prevents the knife from opening and closing unintentionally. The simple but still unsurpassed safety ring was invented by Marcel Opinel back in 1955. ViroBloc is made of stainless steel with a specific black finish that increases protection against corrosion. This finish is sensitive to scratches, so be careful not to use abrasive cleaning agents or sponges when cleaning.
Black stainless steel
The matte black blade is more resistant to corrosion than a classic stainless steel blade. However, this blade is more susceptible to scratches, so be careful not to use abrasive cleaners or sponges when cleaning it.
Opinel - a design icon
The story of the now iconic Opinel brand begins in the 19th century, when merchant Victor-Amédée Opinel learned to forge nails during his travels and subsequently founded his forge in France. After his death, his son Daniel took over the craft, becoming the "sharps maker" for local farmers because the blades of his sickles and scythes were widely acclaimed as the sharpest possible. However, the real Opinel - the folding pocket knife - had to wait a while for its discovery. Daniel Opinel's eldest son, Joseph, decided to follow in his father's footsteps and, driven by artistic passion, combined handcrafting with the most modern technology at the time and created a small miracle. The year was 1890 and the Opinel folding pocket knife saw the light of day, a knife loved from day one and passed down from generation to generation. The knife, which over the years has gained hundreds of thousands of fans around the world, has become a common part of many households and somewhat of a symbol of all of France...
Nowadays, the company produces not only legendary folding outdoor knives, but also has a sophisticated kitchen program, including forged kitchen knives; you can also buy stainless steel cutlery and steak knives from the Opinel brand today.
